What is Hooters?
Hooters is a casual, beach-themed restaurant known for its brand of food and fun atmosphere, featuring a menu that includes seafood, sandwiches, and Hooters’ “nearly world famous” spicy chicken wings, complete with service provided by the Hooters Girls, our trademark all-American cheerleaders.
History
It was April 1st, 1983, in Clearwater, Florida, and at “The Home for the Visually Offensive”, history was about to be made. While playing Parcheesi, six fun-loving businessmen with no experience in the food service business had a sudden urge for the smell of rough sawn lumber and the taste of Buffalo style chicken wings. Knowing full well that they couldn’t agree on anything as a group, nor could they get a weekend pass from the “home” to go to Buffalo, they decided to open the doors to a restaurant with an owl in the logo, chicken wings as the feature item, and girls in orange shorts. After frantically locating a friend to show them how to start the fryers, Hooters was off and crawling. The crawl soon turned into a stride.

Hooters Global Development
After 26 years, Hooters is running at full speed with over 450 Hooters restaurants in 43 states in the US and 24 countries like the UK, Spain, Germany, and Singapore. It has continued to rank high amongst the industry's growth leaders. Hooters has proven successful in small-town America, major metropolitan areas, and internationally.
The Hooters system launched its own Hooters MasterCard Credit Card and Hooters Magazine. It also generates awareness through successful sports partnerships with the National Golf Association Hooters Tour and the United Speed Alliance Hooters Pro Cup racing series. Other sponsored sports properties include Formula One powerboat racing and an AMA Motorcycle Team. In 2006, the Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas was opened at the site of the former San Remo Hotel. The 700-room property provides a Hooters experience with beautiful Hooters Girls and a comfortable, casual atmosphere.
The first Hooters China restaurant opened in October, 2004. Since then, Hooters of China is proud to have restaurants in Shanghai, Beijing, and Chengdu. With plans to open new restaurants in cities, Hooters of China will continue to bring our customers great food and cold beer, served by our beautiful Hooters Girls.

Hooters is also famous for its seafood, salads, sandwiches, and the “more than a mouthful” Hooters burger. The food is not the only thing that brings people back again and again.
